Helping others from being harassed

I am tired of being called 4-5 times a day by Capital One. I do not want others to be harassed by Capital One like I have been for months. I am not a Capital One card member, I do not owe them money, I am on the National Do Not Call List. Capital One doesn't even know my name when they call me. I have no link to Capital One except for my phone number.

  2. Received a call from "Linda" from 1-800-955-6600 and said she was from "Capital One." She asks you to call back 1-866-953-7906 (they answer and say they ARE from Capital One). THEY ARE NOT! They are SCAM ARTISTS. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. When I called the first time, "Geraldine" asked me for my 16-digit account number (I don't have an account with them). She also said my call would be recorded and asked if that was okay. I said yes. I then proceeded to tell her that I, too, was RECORDING THE PHONE CALL. She said, "I'm sorry. I need to hang up." Really? They can record YOU; but, you cannot record THEM??? Why? Because they are SCAM ARTISTS! I have already filed a complaint with the FBI and the BBB. I plan on contacting the news media as well to alert EVERYONE about these scam artists. The fact that the REAL "Capital One" (and I DID contact THEM) said they weren't aware of the situation was BS. Personally, I am going to encourage as many people as possible to switch to a different account and do my best to put Capital One out of business. They should NOT be in business if they claim they aren't aware of any SCAMS out there (when I checked online and there have been complaints on this exact same issue as far back as 2007). Good-bye, Capital One. It was a pleasure never having done business with you. Thanks for the phone calls. Capital One should change their name to Capital TWO. They ARE #2 (as in a load of $hit)!

    1. Did they at least stop contacting you said you were recording them? "Linda" calls me several times a day.

    2. They are out to do it again!! I just got a call from them this morning. Linda called about "an important business matter" and to call them back at 866-953-7906.

  3. These people call DAILY and sometimes two/three times a day. I'm on the Federal Do Not Call List, but that is apparently only for law-abiding telemarketers as scammers pay it no heed.

I've reported it several times to the FCC, but again, nothing is done about it.

This problem has been going on since January!

I have the exact same problem as another commenter: "Robocall left on my machine: "Hi this is Linda. We would like to discuss solutions regarding an important business matter with Capital One. Please call us back today at 1-866-953-7906 to discuss it further. Again the number is 1-866-953-7906. Thank you." Contacted capital one and they said if 866-953-7906 isn't on their website contact pages, then it's not a capital one number. Couldn't find 866-953-7906 on capitalone.com so this is a scam call. I think this scam works on you believing you've been called by the real capital one (and you have not), you call 866-953-7906 back (and you should not), they ask you for an account number to look up what the important business matter is all about, then they ask you for personal info to verify that you are the legit owner of the account number you just gave them. Don't fall for it or the scammers will steal your money and possibly your ID."

DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE BACK, THEY ARE SCAMMERS!

    1. No return calls to them. I let it go to voice mail and then delete it. So far they have called about 75 times.

  5. I had the same thing happen multiple times at work. A recording called and said to call them back. It even came up as Capitol One on our (business) caller ID. I called them back and an extremely fake accented voice asked for my card number, I said I didn't have one and that I wanted to know whey they were calling a business line, who doesn't have their services. He was polite and said he would remove us from their call list.

  6. I too am getting 2 calls a day. One of the calls they leave a message, the other one they do not. They are using the number to call back on 866-953-7906. I am glad I googled the number and saw all the comments on this site about these scammers. I wont be calling them back and I can see from the comments that filing a complaint with the FCC doesn't do anything. Government work at its finest! So, I am just going to block their number. Thank you for this website and the great info!

  7. everything above is correct. they only call at work. several times a day for about 3 weeks. I goggled because I thought it was too much and I am not past due. Also the same voice from Linda, and the same message was left everytime. word for word.

  8. Concur with all of the above as just received call and finding it unusual to receive an 800 call on a Sunday that would be of importance allowed it to go to VM. Msg left was by accented woman with accoustics as if calling from a bathroom with instructions to immediately call the 7906 referenced number. Same scam still up and running.

  9. "Linda" left me a message today saying the same as was said above. I wish I would've read these posts first so I wouldn't have called the number. They asked for last 4 digits of ssn# and I said no and that this seemed weird & she said to call the # on my capital one card. Ugh! Not sure which is worse "Linda" or the "IRS!"

  10. They call numerous times and leave messages saying they are capital one and their systems are down so they need to manually verify my account. She asked for the complete spelling of my name and zip code. Then when she asked for my FULL social red flags popped up! Not only should no one ever over the phone should ask for it only the last 4 and do you think I'm stupid if after I said no you ask for my credit card number!? Complete scam!! Glad I googled the number!

  13. I received a call from 866-953-7906 on Sept 39, 2016, a ghetto sounding woman left this message "I know, but it's not like having a man" and hung up. My husband and I were confused but figured this is what ghetto people do, harass people via the phone for $7 per hour.

  14. This is a scam, I called Capital One and this number 866-953-7904 is not part of Capital
One in any way. Do not give them any information if you answer a call from them and do not call them back EVER..IT IS A SCAM TO PHISH FOR YOU INFORMATION!

  15. Next time ask them for their mailing address and tell them that your lawyer will be sending them a cease and desist letter. It's stopped the calls for me in the past. At least for a little while.

  16. They have been calling me for months without me even answering since I dont answer calls I dont know. But today out of boredom I answered. Glad I googled it first. Told them they had the wrong number. Lets see how long that lasts...

  18. Me too...a dozen calls a week from the same exchange but different robo call numbers... this has to stop!

  19. Capital One just confirmed that this call was from them; they have a record of it, but they say it was a collection call for another customer, and they apologized. There's something off about this, but it IS Capital One.

  21. I do not have a Capital One account and Linda has been calling several times a day from 1-800-955-6600, asking me to call back to straighten out an urgent matter and to call them @ 1-866-953-7906, waking up a handicapped member of my family. I do not answer, but it is terribly annoying. I just wish there was someone out there that could stop this harrassment. This is America. There should be some kind of protection against harrassment in this country.

  22. Yes- it is capital one- it's an attempt to collect on a debt. I do owe them money and the calls started after missing my second card payment- I lost my job, so they will have to wait for their money so I can keep food in the fridge.
